Casio Thailand to Begin Production of Calculators
and Electronic Dictionaries

Addition of Third Factory and Expansion of Production Line

TOKYO, April 22, 2014 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today that Casio (Thailand) Co., Ltd., currently a base of production for Casio watches, would begin manufacturing calculators in June of this year, followed by electronic dictionaries in October.

Casio Thailand moved to its current approximately 140,000 sq. meter site in 2012 to allow for possible subsequent expansion of the functions performed by the company. This move helped to distribute risk more broadly among Casio production bases and ensure greater capacity for Casio to handle future increase in demand from outside of Japan. At its current site, the factory complex is capable of handling all aspects of watch production, from plastic molding through assembly.

The decision to add a third factory to Casio Thailand’s two existing factories was made to help ensure an even more stable supply of multiple products from the company. The third factory will produce calculators and electronic dictionaries with the capacity to manufacture 1.1 million products a month. The expandable layout designed to accommodate increased volume and new production items in the future will enable more flexible production under a global production system.
