Casio to Consolidate All Marketing and Sales Functions in China into One New Company

Sales company functions to be integrated into one company to achieve business growth

TOKYO, December 16, 2013—Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today announced that it will integrate its sales activities in China, which are currently conducted by two companies, into a single company in order to further expand its business in the country. The new company will be called Casio (China) Co., Ltd., and it will commence operations on January 1, 2014 and handle all Casio products in China.

Casio began exporting to China in the 1970s and established its Beijing Representative Office in 1985. In the 1990s, it established manufacturing and marketing joint ventures, one each for its calculator, electronic musical instrument and timepiece businesses. Later, in 2003 the company established Casio (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., which primarily sells digital cameras, electronic dictionaries, calculators and electronic musical instruments, and in 2006 Casio (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., which sells timepieces, seeking to accommodate strong growth in the Chinese market. Since then, the efforts of these two sales companies have resulted in growing sales.

Casio (China), the new company, will consolidate only the marketing functions of Casio (Guangzhou) into Casio (Shanghai), the latter of which will formally change its name to the new company name. In addition to amalgamating redundant departments and systems, it will roll out distribution and promotion across all product areas, further leveraging the strong recognition of the Casio brand and market trust in Casio product brands. An integrated approach to Internet mail order sales, which have grown sharply over the past few years, will be particularly beneficial in the area of distribution. The new company will facilitate consistent sales and marketing activities across all products.

As of the same date, Casio (Guangzhou) will become the sole logistics management company for Casio in China.
