Casio Middle East FZE to Commence Sales Activities from October

Based in Dubai, This Local Subsidiary Aims to Boost Sales in Six Gulf Countries

TOKYO, August 28, 2013 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that Casio Middle East FZE is planning to commence sales and marketing activities in October this year. Aiming to expand its business in the Middle East, Casio established Casio Middle East FZE in Dubai in March 2013 as its first sales and marketing company in the region.

Casio has been supplying products to countries in the Middle East through sales agents since the mid-1970s. In 1994, Casio set up a representative office in Dubai to function as a contact point for customers. In recent years, markets in the Middle East, particularly the six member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC),* have been thriving against the backdrop of robust economic growth and an expanding youth population. Accordingly, Casio regards the region as a strategic growth market and is pursuing business expansion there.

Located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, a special economic zone next to a major port, Casio Middle East FZE was established as a local subsidiary responsible for the six Gulf countries, beginning with the United Arab Emirates. Starting in October this year, it will work together with sales agents in each of the countries and carry out sales and marketing activities tailored to these countries By promptly supplying products and services suitable for the lifestyles and cultures of local people, the company intends to popularize Casio products and expand its business in the region.

More specifically, Casio Middle East FZE will focus on increasing the number of local retailers handling Casio products and will step up sales promotional activities with the goal of raising the presence of unique brands of Casio watches, especially the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. In the education market, the company plans to contribute to the scholastic abilities of children in the region by promoting the adoption of scientific calculators in school math classes and the use of electronic musical instruments in schools and in music learning centers.

Looking to the future, Casio Middle East FZE will explore increasing the number of Middle Eastern countries it covers. It will also look at taking on greater business responsibilities as a gateway to countries in Africa, which is drawing attention as a new growth market.
