CONCEPT

Greater freedom, Cooler styling

Greater freedom,
Cooler styling

Privia was born in 2003 as a new-concept digital piano conceived from a desire to extend the pleasure of playing piano to as many people as possible.
Its launch completely erased the conventional image of the digital piano as a large, heavy instrument with traditional styling.
With Privia, CASIO's original thinking and highly advanced technologies realized a space-saving, easily portable compact and lightweight piano with contemporary styling that would enhance any home interior - and Privia made a high-quality piano life available to virtually anyone. Throughout the decade since, Privia's superb piano performance and stylish design have continued to develop . . . toward greater playing freedom & even cooler styling. Today's Privia continues to offer anyone and everyone a new-style piano life.

Surprise and inspiration born of original applications of accumulated technologies

SoundAbundantly expressive reverberation

Grand piano tones vary with the player's touch.
Since Privia's launch, the development team has constantly pursued realization of true grand piano sound. Privia applies CASIO's digital technologies to reproduce variations in sound resulting from the weight of each keystroke as well as smooth shifts in tonality. Extending the same careful consideration to grand piano resonance, it has attained a rich, natural sound never before produced by a digital piano.

TouchHighly responsive keyboard

Privia affords a natural keyboard touch resembling a grand piano's despite its compact body. Its keyboard action mechanism relies solely on the weight of the hammers, much like a grand piano's. The grand piano's key characteristics are also carefully reproduced: The deeper the music extends into the bass range, the heavier the keys, and the higher it extends into the treble range, the lighter they become.
Privia also simulates the grand piano's superior performance in sounding continuous keystroke tones - and even the variations in reverberation length resulting from the speed at which fingers are released from the keyboard. And the simulated ivory and ebony keys provide optimal fingertip feel and touch.

StyleA more personal piano life

The notes of a piano add rich color to hours spent in the privacy of a favorite room. Compact and lightweight, Privia brings the piano life of your dreams into your personal life. With its stylish compact lines, a refreshing break from the conventional piano image, it fits beautifully into the contemporary home, adding a touch of glamour to private interior spaces.

Natural playing feel approaching a grand piano's
Tri-sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II

The timing of a piano's sound production differs with the playing style and the sizes of the hammers in the various key blocks. Privia is consequently equipped with a keyboard system in which three sensors detect keystrokes sequentially. It also incorporates a Hammer Response function that faithfully simulates the sound production timing in individual key blocks. Careful attention to details of timing from keystroke detection to sound production has produced a playing feel much like a grand piano's.

The weight of each keystroke determines the time between its detection and the responding sound production. The sound is produced when playing ends.

Striking a key initiates sequential detection by three sensors.
